Ruth was a great archer among the people of the small tribe located in the Skatay Range. One day, he severely injured his right arm and couldn't get proper treatment since there was no healer in his tribe. Thus, he headed for Gridania to cure his arm, but the city with the closed community wouldn't allow the entry of strangers. When he reached Limsa Lominsa to see scholars, unfortunately, the golden time for treatment was missed. Ruth was prostrated with the greatest grief that he would be able to shoot arrows never again. He couldn't go back to his home unless he proves his usefulness to the tribe in another way because of the Viera tradition that useless male Viera is banished. He was affectionate toward his tribe. Thus, he decided to find a way to go back home while he stayed in Limsa Lominsa. By a fortunate chance, Scholars taught him some healing spells. Also, Ruth could learn how to use chakrams from a dancer who held a performance at the main plaza of the city. After a few years, when he went back to the tribe, his beloved people were being massacred by one of the Garlemald troops who were heading to the Dalmasca Kingdom. However, for the small tribe living in isolation, it was impossible to defeat the overwhelming force of the army. Ruth, too, was unable to protect his people with his new skills. In the end, he collapsed after the attack of a soldier and breathed his last under white snow.But, his fate didn't end there. When Ruth woke up again, he was taken back to the time when he suffered an injury that made him unable to hold a bow again. Was it just a daydream? After several iterations of the time loop, Ruth realized his cruel destiny just started wasn't a bad dream. Every time he died, he went back to the same time. What's even more depressing was that he couldn't change one's predetermined destiny. But he must walk the 'right' path of his only fate, a hero who becomes the final hope of mankind and saves Etheirys from Endsinger. However, he faced countless death and lives, and this made him look like a born-to-be warrior to others. He wonders if there is an ending to suffering, sorrow, and his life(fate). Ruth hates Zenos because he's a prince of Garlemald that killed his tribe. However, Ruth knows that Zenos understands how he thinks about his life, and this enemy is the only one who sees him as he is. Not as a hero with courage, strength and noble deed. Even companions of Scions and Eorzea can't comprehend how he feels, thinks and what he wants. And he also can't be fully attached to his friends. That's why Ruth can neither hate nor love Zenos completely.
